Wildlife artist, naturalist
Danièle Désourdy was born in the Eastern Townships of Quebec, Canada in 1969. She had a deep attachment for nature and animals since childhood, and learned to draw both through observation. Art has always been present in her life; her mother was a recognized artist in Quebec and internationally.
She graduated high school at FACE (Fine Arts Core Education) in Montreal, a school with an artistic vocation. Afterward, she obtained a college diploma in visual arts at the Cégep du Vieux Montréal and worked on many artistic projects.
Her artistic journey as well as her passion for fauna and flora, directs her towards animal art.
Birds or mammals, she dives into the details of a fur dress, skin scales and singular shapes of her subjects. She exerts a precision and realism that leads us to believe that her subjects are alive and their environment, true-to-life. Her purpose is to make us aware of this beauty that surrounds us.
Her career is punctuated by prizes and awards, including a prestigious exhibition at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris as well as two gold medals at the International Prize for Art Professionals in the Animal Art category awarded by Mondial Art Academia.
Since 2017, she has dedicated herself full-time to her career as a professional artist in her workshop in the suburbs of Montreal.
